In her installations, drawings and objects, Friederike Klotz often deals with the “model” and its various implications – questions of overview and distance, of transferability from small to large, of the feeling of omnipotence or apparent harmlessness that they evoke. The examination of dimensional shifts from miniaturization to the enlarging of objects using optical techniques plays a key role in her practice. Certain aspects of her subjects, such as mass movements and moments of overgrowth in architecture or nature, are made visible using “sign language”. The results are objects and installations in which sketches take on a three-dimensionality, architecture-like packaging elements are covered in drawings, and sketches are created inside a black box through the projection of light.
