Over the period of 20 days, from June 1 to July 31, 2020, Wei Yuan explored the urban area of Wuhan city by bus. During his city-wide travels, he photographed streets divided by “blue walls”—blue panels usually used to fence off construction sites in the city. During the strict lockdown against the spread of Covid-19 in 2020, these blue dividers spread all over the city, often in front of residential areas, to restrict movement and isolate citizens during the intense phase of the virus. With the relaxation of Covid-19 measures in the summer, Wei Yuan recorded the partly retained, partly damaged, partly removed “blue curtain” as remnant of this year’s global health crisis. From the collection of photos, he selected 2,020 for a digital video recording lasting 33 minutes and 30 seconds.
